Why won't my stamping design pick up properly?
The most common cause is the pickup motion. Most beginners press straight down and lift — that traps air under the stamper and breaks the design. The correct technique is a rolling motion that pushes air out of the etching as you go.
What is the difference between firm and clear stampers?
Firm stampers have a harder head — buff once when new, then never again. They get closest to the cuticle and handle fine lines. Clear stampers have a soft, sticky surface — their advantage is transparency for precise placement.
Why are polka dots harder than they look?
Polka dots require consistent pressure across the whole stamper head simultaneously — any unevenness and some dots pick up while others don't. They're also sensitive to stamping polish consistency.
What is gradient stamping and how does it work?
Apply two or three colors side by side on the plate, then blend with short quick motions in almost the same spot — not dragging across the whole plate, which creates mud.
What is reverse stamping?
You paint the design directly on the stamper head, let it dry completely, then transfer to a sticky layer on the nail. The result looks hand-painted even if you can't draw.
What plates and polish brands are used in the course?
MoYou London and Nicole Diary plates are shown, but any plates work. For polish, Kads and Eniq are recommended — regular nail polish dries too slowly for stamping.
How do I get stamping close to the cuticle?
Push back the cuticle first, then use the pinch grip to pull the sidewalls down slightly as you roll. When it still can't reach, the lesson shows finishing by hand plus a silicone brush trick for lifted edges.
