European Union
As an EU consumer purchasing a digital product through a distance contract, you have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 calendar days from the date of purchase, under Article 9 of the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU, without the need to provide any reason.
Right of withdrawal and immediate access to digital content: Under Article 16(m) of the Directive, the right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content delivered over the internet if performance has begun and the consumer has given explicit prior consent and acknowledged that the right of withdrawal will thereby be lost.
At checkout, we ask for your explicit consent before granting immediate access to course content. If you provide that consent and begin accessing the course, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal is forfeited in accordance with the law.
If you have not yet accessed any course content, your full 14-day statutory right of withdrawal remains intact. Contact us at info@vel.academy before accessing the content to exercise this right with no penalty.
VEL Academy additionally offers a voluntary 14-day satisfaction guarantee for EU customers even after course access has begun — provided that no more than 30% of the course content has been viewed. See Section 05 and Section 06 for full details.
Refund requests from EU consumers are processed in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2018/302 (Geo-blocking Regulation) — we do not discriminate on the basis of nationality or place of residence within the EU.
For unresolved disputes, EU consumers may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
United Kingdom
UK consumers are protected by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which provide a 14-calendar-day right to cancel distance contracts from the date of conclusion of the contract.
Under Regulation 37, the cancellation right for digital content supplied over the internet may be lost if: (a) the supply of the digital content has begun with the consumer's prior express consent, and (b) the consumer has acknowledged that the right to cancel is thereby lost.
This acknowledgement is collected at checkout. If you have not yet accessed course content, your full 14-day cancellation right remains in force.
Additionally, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If the content does not meet these standards, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or — where these are not possible — a price reduction or refund.
We also extend our voluntary 14-day satisfaction guarantee to all UK customers — provided that no more than 30% of the course content has been viewed.
For unresolved disputes, UK consumers may contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline or refer to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme applicable to digital services.
United States
There is no single federal statutory refund period for digital goods in the United States. However, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that refund policies be clearly disclosed, honest, and honoured as stated.
VEL Academy offers US customers a voluntary 14-day satisfaction guarantee from the date of purchase — provided that no more than 30% of the course content has been viewed. If you are not satisfied with your course within this period and have viewed less than 30% of the content, you may request a full refund.
California residents (CCPA / California Consumer Protection Laws): In addition to our voluntary guarantee, California residents retain all rights provided under the California Consumer Protection statutes, including the right to accurate disclosure of refund terms prior to purchase.
Other states: Consumers in states with specific digital goods or distance-selling consumer protection statutes (including New York, Texas, and Florida) retain any rights granted under applicable state law, which we will honour in full.
All Other Countries
Customers purchasing from countries not listed above are offered our voluntary 14-day satisfaction guarantee from the date of purchase — provided that no more than 30% of the course content has been viewed. If you are not satisfied for any reason within this period and have not exceeded this threshold, contact us and we will issue a full refund.
Where local consumer protection legislation provides greater rights than our voluntary guarantee, those statutory rights will take precedence and we will comply with them in full.
Non-Refundable Situations
Refund requests will not be accepted in the following circumstances, except where required by applicable statutory law:
- The refund request is submitted after 14 calendar days from the date of purchase
- More than 30% of the course content has been viewed. Once a student has accessed over 30% of the course materials, the course is considered substantially consumed and a refund will not be issued
- The course access has been shared with or transferred to another person in violation of our Terms of Service
- The account has been suspended or terminated due to a breach of our Terms of Service
- A refund for the same course or bundle has already been issued previously
- The request appears to be fraudulent or abusive in nature
How to Request a Refund
The process is simple and straightforward:
Processing & Timeline
All approved refunds are returned to the original payment method via PayPal. Timelines are as follows:
- Acknowledgement of request: within 2 business days
- Refund decision: within 5 business days of request receipt
- Funds returned to your account: 3–5 business days after approval, depending on your bank or card issuer
- Statutory deadlines (EU / UK): refund issued no later than 14 days from the date we agree to process it, in accordance with applicable law
